• Salcombe Town Council wishes to extend a warm thanks to our recently departing Councillor Jane Clark who has had to retire from Council duties due to ill-health. Jane has been a willing contributor to town matters, and her input has been both invaluable and most appreciated.
  • We are calling for this years nominations for the Salcombe Citizen Of The Year award. If there is someone who contributes their time and skills to the community in an extraordinary way please do put their name forward, it is a small way of showing the communities appreciation.
  • At this time of year we look at the town precept, this is the amount of funding requested from District Council for the maintenance of the town and to enable the Town Council to carry out it’s duties. This year sees an increase of 3.64% a figure significantly lower than many other Town and Parish Councils. This equates to £1.32 per band ‘D’ household. Considering the amount of County and District Council services that have ceased or reduced and then been absorbed into the Town Council budget, this would appear a small increase for the year ahead.
  • The Salcombe Neighbourhood Development Plan is progressing to the next stage with steering groups meeting regularly. People are very much encouraged to come forward as this is a golden opportunity to have real input to the future of the town in particular development within Salcombe Parish. Go along to the dedicated website for more information, www.salcombeplan.orgFor any members of the Salcombe community who feel they would like to contribute to improving and maintaining the town by becoming a Town Councillor, Councillor vacancies are available and new candidates are always most welcome.
