In order to celebrate our treasured treescapes, support local wildlife and help alleviate the huge problem that Ash Dieback is causing for our local landscape, the Devon Wildlife Trust is leading the Saving Devon’s Treescapes project on behalf of the Devon Ash Dieback Resilience Forum. By running their Free Tree Scheme, this project will enable people to plant and nurture over 250,000 trees across Devon and celebrate our treasured treescapes. As a full supporter of this initiative Salcombe has recently taken delivery of a beautiful Copper Beech, which was planted in a prominent position in Jubilee Gardens, Ember Road, by Town Mayor Cllr Mrs Nikki Turton and Salcombe’s Tree Warden, Mark Long.
The Mayor said, “we are very proud to be a part of this scheme, and this Landmark Tree will give pleasure to our residents and visitors for many years to come at the same time.”
